At the age of 20, the young and enthusiastic hip-hop star is a living proof that you can do anything you put your mind to. Obakeng Clive Mothiba is a Soshanguve born hip-hop sensation that captured the hearts of many with his great music. From as early as 11 years old, Obakeng already knew that music was his passion. "I grew up loving boondocks and watching movies that had hip-hop slangs and I would play the theme songs on my brother's phone." he said.

Growing up, Obakeng found comfort and a sense of belonging when he listened to music in spite of being surrounded by his three brothers whom he looked up to. "I grew up knowing my father but I could not reach him like having man-to-man conversations." he said. He also said music helped him to understand his emotions and also acknowledge his roots.

In 2013, Obakeng also known as Casey Obbs decided to go solo. This came after the group he formed with his friends "Grandkids" disintegrated. But that did not stop him from being relentless in making music that everyone can relate to. He went on to release one extended play (EP) of seven tracks and eight singles from the year 2017 with recent single titled "Better days".

Despite being a Diploma in Financial Management student at Tshwane North College and making great music, Obakeng took a leap in broadening his horizon. He recently opened his recording company with his new business partners and wants to give back to the community. Obakeng said he was working on enhancing his production skills. "I see the company I have started growing and making it big." he added.

Obakeng highlighted the challenges of being in the music industry as being difficult. He came across numerous factors such as trying to build a fan base and not getting the feedback he had anticipated as one of the reasons that could leave you disheartened. Obakeng said that the music industry is like any business, you have to sell and market your brand. He added that it was important to remember that delays are an opportunity to come back stronger and that people need to be patient with themselves.

Amongst the many influential hip-hop artists that he looks up to, his raps are inspired by the two prominent rappers known worldwide as Nas and Stogie T. He also envisioned sitting next to Jay-Z at the Grammy awards or receiving and award from him as goals that he intended to achieve in future.

Like many would respond to being "hard working" when asked to describe themselves, Obakeng's passion, and humble spirit stood out. He also mentioned that he values loyalty and kindness even more.
