The beauty industry has evolved from it being an opportunity to selective people, and now opening doors for young enthusiastic individuals who have changed the narrative.
The 26-year-old dauntless makeup artist from Emdo Park (Polokwane) in Limpopo, had taken a leap of faith to leave the Chemical-plant operations qualification she had embarked on to pursue her love for makeup.
With not much resources to help start her business, Sewela Mofomadi used her mother's garage to turn her dreams into reality. "Working in the garage is a beautiful experience, has been since day one. It's renovated and it's welcoming." she said.

A garage that made Sewela's dreams possible. |
Sewela had to travel to places she was unfamiliar with to render her services to her clients using public transport. Like any other businesses, challenges are inevitable. She would feel demotivated when she could not reach some of her client's expectations. "I grew up to know that it's impossible to please everyone and since then, I have been a lot less hard on myself." she added.

Apart from her 9-5 job as an owner of Moshabi makeup and spa, Sewela loves modelling. She associates good quality photos in the beauty industry as demonstrative of ones seriousness about business and potential clients.
Sewela recently renovated her mother's kitchen into every woman's dream. As a mother who made sacrifices and raised her and her siblings single-handedly, this was her way of showing gratitude . "It has always been a dream to take care of my mom's needs while she is alive." she said.
One of Sewela's biggest highlight of her career in the beauty industry was to restore the confidence women had. She expresses this in how she passes down her knowledge of makeup to enhance women's beauty, and said if she were to be left with one make-up item, it would be, without hesitation, a red lipstick.
